Still Life

So I had this canvas board sitting by the easel with the background painted and the still life outlined in chalk for over a year and finally, I painted it yesterday! It took around five hours to do this in acrylic.

I believe I did the background using a sponge making some of the paint in the background spotty. I thought it was dust particulates because it sat for so long, but I brushed over it with a dampened brush and it’s still noticeable in the photo. I am considering going over it in oil paint, at least the background and maybe the apple. I went over the background in this acrylic Owl painting in oil and it came out really smooth.

The still-life painting was done under the guidance of artist Cinnamon Cooney who goes by the name The Art Sherpa. She has an amazing YouTube channel that I have watched for a few years now. Many of her tutorials are geared toward the beginner and she explains things in such a fun and simple way that I highly recommend checking her out.

Thanks for visiting.
